Electric Vans

Although there has been a diverse array of hybrid cargo vans released in recent years, the number of all-electric vans is still relatively minimal. Designing and manufacturing electric vans and electric pickups are both difficult endeavors due to the nature of how these vehicles are used. Any truck or van that’s needed for hauling equipment and gear throughout the entire workday needs significant hauling capacity and range. The average professional can’t stop for a couple hours in the middle of their day to recharge their van or truck.

Recent advancements in battery technology have made all-electric trucks and vans a feasible reality, but there are still relatively few options available.

Currently Available Electric Vans

  • Ford F-150 Lightning
  •  Rivian R1T

Upcoming Electric Vans

Although the current selection of electric vans is rather sparse, there are many electric vans on the horizon. Some of these vans are being rolled out for specific businesses, like Rivian’s Amazon Prime EV van, the USPS electric vans being designed by Oshkosh Defense or the BrightDrop Zevo 400 being used by Verizon. Other vans are going to be consumer and business facing, including:

  •   Tesla Robovan (potentially)
  •   Arrival XL Van
  •   BrightDrop Zevo and EV410
  •   Mercedes-Benz eSprinter
  •   Canoo Electric Van Models
  •   Kia Mid PBV
  •   Chevrolet and GMC Electric Van Models
  •   Blue Arc Delivery Van

Some of these models are still on the drawing board, while others, like Arrival’s L Van, are already operating in Europe and just waiting on a state-side introduction. Businesses and individuals interested in investing in an all-electric cargo or walk-in van need only wait a few more years to get their opportunity to do so.
